Appleが、iPhoneシリーズで採用しているグラフィックスコアPowerVRのベンダーであるImagination Technologiesへの出資比率を上昇させたということです。

Apple has significantly increased its investment in Imagination Technologies Group, the UK-based company responsible for the impressive graphics performance of Apple’s mobile devices. Recent purchases of stock in the company give Apple a 9.5 percent ownership in the company, nearly three times the initial 3.6 percent stakethat Apple acquired late last year.
According to the EE Times, Apple purchased about 11.52 million shares of the company on the open stock market and also arranged to purchase 2.2 million newly-issued shares. Combined with the 8.2 million shares Apple bought last December, the company now owns nearly 22 million shares in total. Imagination Technologies has had a roughly 180 percent return rate since Apple’s initial investment. Not only has Apple’s investment helped to secure graphics technology for the iPhone, it’s also netted about $12 million so far.
EE Timesが明らかにしたものとして、Appleは6月25日、市場取引により平均取得単価£ 1.4275 にて1,152万株を取得すると共に、新機構株220万株を引き受ける形で取得したということです。Appleは、これにより昨年12月に取得していた820万株（全発行株式の3.6%）とあわせ、計2,200万株（同9.5%）を所有することになったということです。
なお、Imagination Technologies社はAppleの最初の出資以降、180%の投資収益率をあげており、iPhoneやiPod touchに使われたグラフィックスコア技術の機密性確保に働いただけではなく、およそ1,200万ドルの利益をもたらしたとしています。
Appleは従来機でPowerVR MBXを採用すると共に、新型機iPhone 3GSではPowerVR SGX（恐らくPowerVR MBX 535の改良型）を採用しました。Appleによる今回の出資比率の上昇施策は、今後もAppleがPoweVRグラフィック技術を中心にすえていることを示唆するものであるとしています。

As it prepares itself for the inevitable launch of the first product based on the much-hyped Larrabee chip, Santa Clara, California-based Intel further strengthens its stake in Imagination Technologies, increasing it by an additional 25 million shares. The world’s leading chip maker now owns 13.99 percent of the British chip designer’s total issued voting rights, or 32 million shares of the company. Following the announcement about Intel’s move, Imagination Technologies’s shares went up 12.7 pcts.
この2週間前に、IntelもImagination Technologiesの株式を大量取得（2,500万株、全発行株式の13.99%）しており、このIntelの動きを受けて市場ではImagination Technologiesの株式が12.7%も上昇したと書かれています。
