MacRumorsでテザリング設定画面のスクリーンショットが公開されています。
Mac Rumorsによれば、
USB Tethering Seems to be Working in iPhone 3.0 - Mac Rumors
One developer was “hacking around” with some carrier bundle files and iPhone 3.0 and somehow managed to activate the tethering preferences. Not only that, he was also able to actually tether his iPhone 3G to his laptop over USB. Based on the preference panel, it appears that you will be able to tether via USB or Bluetooth.
Tethering is a feature that allows you to share your iPhone’s internet connection with your laptop, but has not been an allowed feature up until iPhone 3.0. Even with iPhone 3.0, mobile carriers generally charge an extra fee in the U.S. to allow tethering access.
あるデベロッパーがテザリング設定について発見したということで、設定画面がリークされています。
この画面を見ると、USB経由、またはBluetooth経由の二択が可能となっているようです。
テザリングというのは、iPhoneをMacやPCなどのモデムとして使う方法のことですので、USB経由でもまったく困らないでしょうがBluetoothも選択できればパッと使う際などの利便性は相当向上するでしょう。
もちろん、これはあくまでiPhone OS 3.0が備える機能ではあるのですが、各国サービスキャリアの3G回線網を利用する機能のため、オンオフの判断は各国キャリアに委ねられるはずです。
また、昨年末からAT&TとAppleがテザリングについて協議を行っており、テザリングを意識した料金プランについてもかなり具体的に噂に上っていた時期がありました。
日本ではソフトバンクモバイル次第ということになりますが、そういえばソフトバンクもつい先日データ料金プランを発表していたように思います。もちろん、あれがそのまま適用されることはないでしょうが、もし日本でも導入されるとすれば似たような料金設定が行われる可能性がありそうです。
