証券会社が顧客に出すレポートによれば、2008年第4四半期の販売台数の予測値として、550万台との数値が出てきているようです。

Bailey is expecting iPhone sales of around 5.5 million units for the December quarter, down about 1.4 million units from the September quarter.
Goldman SachsのアナリストDavid Bailey氏のレポートでは、2008年第4四半期（10月～12月期）の販売台数は550万台に留まり、（9月期の実績値690万台から）140万台減少になるだろうとの予測を行っていると言うことです。
もしこの予測値が正確であった場合には、iPhone 3Gの販売台数は第3四半期の690万台とあわせ1,240万台で、当初目標である2008年（暦年）での1千万台出荷目標を軽々と達成することになります。
また、iPhoneシリーズ（GSM機＋3G機）累積の販売台数としては、1,850万台という数値になります。
さらに、最近噂の流れているiPhone nanoについても触れている部分があり、レポートの中では1月のMacWorldイベントで新製品（a new product category）発表の可能性は低いだろうと述べています。
“That said, the nearer-term outlook is less positive, as it now looks unlikely that Apple will launch a new product category at MacWorld in early January, taking away a potential catalyst for the shares and causing Apple to try to generate demand in a tough environment without the benefit of a new offering in the first part of 2009,” he wrote.
あくまで証券会社の顧客向けレポート内での予測ですが、どうなるのか注目が必要です。
