Apple、NDAを取りやめ

これは、いいニュースです。

Appleは、リリース後のソフトウェアに限り、NDA（秘密保持契約）条項を廃止するとの発表を行いました。

To Our Developers

We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.

We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by others.

However, the NDA has created too much of a burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhone’s success, so we are dropping it for released software. Developers will receive a new agreement without an NDA covering released software within a week or so. Please note that unreleased software and features will remain under NDA until they are released.

今まで、Apple社はiPhone関連の発明や特許を守るため、デベロッパーに対してNDAを課してきたが、それがデベロッパーの重い負担となっているためにこの条項を取りやめるということです。

登録デベロッパーに対し、1週間以内にNDA条項を含まない新しいアグリーメントが送付されるだろうと書かれています。ただし、今後もリリース前（β段階）のソフトウェアに対するNDA条項は生きています。※これはごく当然のことですので、仕方ないでしょう。特にスマートフォン市場は激戦区であり、Appleとしても背に腹は代えられないところです。

多くの開発者が待ち望んだNDAの解禁がついにやってきました。

これまでは、NDAの壁に阻まれ情報交換がきつく制限されてきたのですが、今後はリリースされたソフトウェアであればそれが解禁されるのです。iPhoneのApp開発の速度をさらに加速させることは間違いありません。

また、iPhone開発関係の書籍も、同様にこのNDAの制限上出版できなかったのですが、10月1日以降はそれが解禁されます。

今後のさらなるiPhoneの発展を期待しましょう。
